This book from 1989 was the first comprehensive guide to Costa Rican birds. It was seventeen years in the making (1972-89) and there were several folks involved over the years, but some dropped out, and at publication time it was Gary Stiles, the famed Alexander Skutch, and illustrator Dana Gardner who saw it through.
